Florida has a thriving tourist industry, attracting many visitors. Rice farmers believe that because their production area is so compact (located in the state's south-central part) most visitors never see rice growing, so don't realise that Florida ranks seventh as a rice producing state. |

| Florida is famous for its white sandy beaches. |
Its Latin population (Cubans and Haitians) heavily influences Florida cuisine and 80 percent of its rice crop is consumed locally. A typical Cuban dish is moros y cristianos or Moors and Christians. Named for its colour combination it combines white rice and black beans. Rice with Black Mushrooms originated in Haiti. |
