Florida -

One of the most popular holiday destinations

Florida beach scene
Florida has a thriving tourist industry, attracting many visitors. Rice farmers believe that because their production area is so compact (located in the state's south-central part) most visitors never see rice growing, so don't realise that Florida ranks seventh as a rice producing state.
Florida is famous for its
white sandy beaches.

Its Latin population (Cubans and Haitians) heavily influences Florida cuisine and 80 percent of its rice crop is consumed locally. A typical Cuban dish is moros y cristianos or Moors and Christians. Named for its colour combination it combines white rice and black beans. Rice with Black Mushrooms originated in Haiti.
